Adoption Information

Available pets

All pets that are available for adoption are visible on our website.  Those pets that are on a mandated stray hold may be scheduled to be seen by appointment on or after their availability date, but not before their "due date out."

View available pets on this website and choose pet type. Once you have the animal ID#, call us to set up an appointment for visiting the pet (951) 654-8002 from 8-3 pm.  If you have questions, you may ask the adoption counselors. Many of the pets at RHS may have come in as strays, but we will try to give you whatever information we may have about them. You can bring your other dog for a dog meet and greet in our get-acquainted area before you decide.

Once both the parties agree to the adoption, it is processed at the front counter. The microchip and spay/neuter is included  in your adoption fee. As a new pet owner, it is your responsibility to keep the information up to date with the microchip company.  Microchips are mandated by law in San Jacinto and the unincorporated areas of Riverside County.

As per the law, it is necessary for all dogs and cats to be spayed or neutered before leaving us, so they do not contribute to the overpopulation. We will arrange this for the next business day. If your adopted pet falls sick, surgery may be delayed until the animal is better. Please note that the animal will remain at the shelter until fit for surgery at no additional cost to the adopter.
